In Playing Clown, Adam Paolozza will guide you through the his unique approach to clown play, grounded in the physical theatre practice that inspired the works of Bad New Days, including The Double, Italian Mime Su***de, and the award-winning Last Landscape.

During this intensive three day workshop we’ll explore core principles of clowning and improvisation, with a special focus on the invisible structures of play that facilitate a greater sense of presence and playfulness while improvising. We'll cultivate a deeper connection between our sense of humour, our bodies, and the audience.

We'll expand our sense of freedom and presence on stage, while exploring practical tools for character creation and devising clown work.

This is a unique opportunity for artists of all disciplines and skill levels to work on your sense of play, to improve playing beats with intention, clarity and rhythm, and to get comfortable with vulnerability and failure.
