π Ah Ma tells lots of stories about life in the rural Chinese village where she grew up. There were clear, cold rivers, talking birds awash in rainbows and tiny dragons nipping at her fingers. It makes her granddaughter wonder whether North America is too boring for Ah Ma. How can Canada geese and murky ponds compete with her childhood home?
β€οΈ AH MA'S HOME written by Gillian Sze and illustrated by Leah Hong is a touching meditative story, offering a mirror to the children of immigrants as well as a window into childhood in rural China.
Publishing October 6th. Learn more here: https://houseofanansi.com/products/ah-mas-home

The Groundwood team is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of author and illustrator Eugenie Fernandes. Eugenie was a beloved member of the childrenβs book community and a joy to work with. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to share her artistry with young readers in A SINGLE DREADLOCK, written by Xaiver Michael Campbell.
Our thoughts are with Eugenie's friends and family. If Eugenieβs name is not familiar to you, we encourage you to seek out her many, many remarkable childrenβs books at your school, local library or bookstore.
Eugenie, weβll miss you. β€οΈ
