While editing a photo, content creator Maik Vélez received an unexpected surprise: the artificial intelligence (AI) he was using identified the Blessed Sacrament as a person. The video sharing this discovery has since gone viral on social media.
On his Instagram account, Vélez posted a video explaining how, while working with an editing app he often uses to retouch images, the AI detected something unusual in the Blessed Sacrament.
“When I went to edit this photo I took, I got a big surprise. The artificial intelligence of this app identified the Blessed Sacrament as a person. It really caught my attention because what this artificial intelligence normally does is identify the shapes of the human body, like the head, arms, and feet. That’s how the algorithm or the binary code of this app works,” he explained.
The content creator noted that, no matter which photo he used from that same moment—whether from another angle or perspective—the program consistently identified the Blessed Sacrament as a person.
“And now, the most curious thing of all is that it’s not just selecting the monstrance, but specifically identifying that there is a human being in the very center. As you can see, the little icon shows that there’s a person there,” he added.
For Vélez, the experience left him speechless. While he acknowledged that it would be necessary to explore the technical reasons behind the app’s reaction, he also saw it as an opportunity to reflect on faith.
“For me, it’s very telling—within my faith—that this is Jesus, alive and real, in that monstrance,” he concluded.
The video has already surpassed 26,000 likes, with many users sharing similar experiences and commenting on how these moments invite deeper reflection on the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
