Announcing our panelists!

Dr. Andre Schmid is a distinguished scholar and historian who has multiple published works in the field of North Korean studies. He is a professor in the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Toronto.

Chris Thompson is the Interim Executive Director of HanVoice Canada. He is currently a JD Candidate at Osgoode Hall Law School and an Articling Student at the Human Trafficking Prosecution Team in the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General.

Yevin is the Co-Chair of HanVoice Canada. She is also a JD Candidate at Osgoode Hall Law School. She is an Associate Editor at Osgoode Hall Law Journal and an Immigration Law Division Junior Caseworker at CLASP legal clinic.

We will also be joined by Sonvin Yim later on in the networking portion of the event. Sonvin is the Director of Communications at HanVoice Canada and a Team Coordinator at the Ontario Centre of Innovation, a non-profit organization that bridges the technological research and commercialization.

We are grateful to have Chris Thompson as our speaker for the 2026 HanVoice Case Competition where he will share his personal journey within HanVoice.

Chris Thompson is the Interim Executive Director of HanVoice. In this role, Chris leads all national operations, including the People’s Museum, student advocacy efforts, and HanVoice’s resettlement program for North Korean refugees. Chris first started at HanVoice in his first year of university and has worked in both grassroots and policy roles at the organization. He earned his BSc from the University of Toronto and his JD from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Registration is open to all students, regardless of academic background, field of study, or prior experience.
