The Greater Toronto
Hamilton Area (GTHA) saw new condominium sales fall to 4,590 units in 2024, marking a 64% decline from the previous year and the slowest year since
1996. Despite some price reductions, sales at newly launched projects were limited, with just 10% of units selling in Q4-2024.
The unsold inventory of new units reached a record high of 24,277, a 50% increase over the 10-year average, and it could take nearly five and a half years to clear the backlog.

Despite lower prices and a record number of completions in 2024, construction starts in Q4-2024 dropped by 59%, with total condo starts for the year falling to their lowest level since 2002. Experts expect the slowdown to continue, leading to reduced supply in 2026-2027.
