Beth Radom Congregation Hebrew School is Hiring Teachers for the 2026-2027 School Year!
Beth Radom is a Conservative, egalitarian synagogue, located at Bathurst and Sheppard in Toronto. We are a vibrant, inviting and inclusive community rooted in the richness of Jewish tradition. We are currently looking for teachers to join our Hebrew School team. Our program runs approximately every other Sunday morning from 9:30-12:00, for students of all ages, including toddlers, K-7, and teens.
Our teachers help create an environment that sparks curiosity and exploration, in which students feel comfortable and included. They guide our students through a values-based curriculum that teaches Jewish culture, tradition, Israel and identity. Teachers will be expected to plan and lead engaging and informative lessons, manage classroom behaviour, communicate effectively with parents, and work well with the Director of Education and other members of the Hebrew School staff.

The Beth Radom Virtual Book Club will meet in three months to discuss When We See You Again - a deeply personal memoir by Rachel Goldberg-Polin, just released in April 2026.
It chronicles the harrowing 328-day period her son, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, was held hostage in Gaza, and her subsequent journey through profound grief following his murder.
The book is described as a "love letter wrapped in pain," serving as a testament to both maternal love and the universal experience of loss. It became an instant #1 New York Times Bestseller upon its release.

Yom HaZikaron begins this evening and ends tomorrow evening at sunset.
It is the day of national remembrance in Israel, where we mourn and remember our fallen soldiers and all lives lost to terror.
As soon as the siren is heard, Israeli citizens stop whatever they’re doing, wherever they are, and stand firm to honour those they’ve lost.
UJA Federation and The Consulate of Israel in Toronto and Western Canada invite you to Yom Hazikaron ceremony. Please register using the link below:

REGARDING THE POLICE PRESENCE YOU MAY HAVE SEEN OUTSIDE OF OUR SHUL TODAY:
As of April 2026, Toronto Police have implemented enhanced, specialized training and deployment strategies for synagogues, including the launch of Task Force Guardian, according to Deputy Chief Frank Barredo.
This security initiative, which includes the presence of officers armed with patrol rifles and long guns at places of worship and critical infrastructure, is in response to a heightened security environment and threats against the Jewish community.
Key details of the new security training and deployment strategies include:
--Task Force Guardian: A specific team of officers deployed for high-visibility protection of synagogues, schools, and high-traffic public spaces.
--Active Threat Awareness: The training focuses on responding to high-risk, violent incidents and providing specialized security to places of worship.
--Visible Patrols: Increased patrols are being maintained around Jewish community institutions.
--International Training & Cooperation: Global law enforcement leaders, including Canadian representatives, are attending intensive training in Europe focusing on "operationalizing" security to combat rising antisemitism, emphasizing proactive measures rather than just passive reflection.
--Strategic Planning: The initiatives are designed to improve coordination and readiness in response to potential threats, involving joint efforts between local police and federal partners.
This, following recent incidents where multiple Toronto-area synagogues were struck by gunfire, markS a significant increase in security measures, including the involvement of specialized counterterrorism units in investigations.

Join the Beth Radom "Superheroes" as we Walk with Israel on Sunday, June 7!
The Walk with Israel means so much to our synagogue—especially this year. As Israelis continue to recover from past attacks and now face new ones, it is up to us to step up and help.
We are honoured to be fundraising for UJA’s partner communities of Bat Yam, Sderot, and Eilat/Eilot. From mental health services to education programs to providing supplies for evacuees, we can directly help real people.
Plus, 100% of donations to our fundraising page go directly to Israelis in need.
