CSW's At Work: Social Innovation Project

In response to the extreme cold temperatures, the City of Toronto will open an additional 2 Warming Centres at 5pm tonight at:

■ Cecil Community Centre, 58 Cecil St. (East of Spadina Ave., south of College St).
■ Jimmie Simpson Recreation Centre, 870 Queen St. E. (East of Broadview Ave., north of Queen St. E).

The following 5 Warming Centres remain currently open:

■ 136 Spadina Rd. (south of Dupont St).
■ 81 Elizabeth St. (behind City Hall. West of Bay St., south of Dundas St. W).
■ 349 George St. (East of Jarvis St., south of Gerrard St. E).
■ 12 Holmes Ave. (Off of Yonge St., south of Finch Ave. E).
■ 885 Scarborough Golf Club Rd. (East of Markham Rd., south of Ellesmere Rd).

Warming Centres give unmatched callers experiencing homelessness a temporary shelter. A warm indoor place to rest, access meals, washroom facilities, and referrals to a more permanent emergency shelter should a space become accessible.

Individuals do not need to contact Central Intake (@311) to access a Warming Centre. Walk-ins are welcome. Should someone arrive at a centre to find that it is already at capacity, the City will assist with transportation to another Warming Centre that has space.

A number of drop-in programs are also available throughout the day - listed in the link.

Streets to Homes and partner outreach teams are connecting people living outside to available spaces and cots. Outreach staff continue to hand out blankets, sleeping bags and warming clothing.

To one of the greatest men ever encountered—albeit through the digital realm—John MacArthur was far more than just an online personality. He was a pastor deeply rooted in a lineage of Christian ministry, a faithful steward of Trinitarian theology, and a master of expository preaching. His unwavering commitment to the Word of God shaped the faith of countless believers.

Now that he has sadly passed, he leaves behind a legacy that will be mourned by hundreds of thousands. He was a modern-day John the Baptist—bold, uncompromising, and unafraid to speak the truth plainly, regardless of how it was received. His voice echoed daily through sermons, teachings, and writings that pierced the soul with clarity and conviction.

He will be profoundly missed—not only for his presence, but for the depth of divine insight he consistently imparted. His teachings will continue to resonate, and the theological truths he expounded will be treasured for generations to come.

No weapon formed against the righteous shall prevail—for God is their shield and their exceeding great reward.
