For some, today may simply be a day off. But I hope it can also be a day of reflection, not only on what happened to children in the past, but on our responsibility toward children today.
We do not have to be an educator to make a difference.
If every adult chose to positively impact even one child’s life, imagine how much safer our world could become.
Every child matters in remembrance, in responsibility, and in the way we move forward 🙏❤️

Having high school students stop by my booth was such a pleasant part of the expo I did not take photos with everyone I spoke with because it can feel a little uncomfortable turning every conversation into a photo opportunity, but having some of the students join me for a picture was really nice.

NexusHub works with businesses through training and development, but community education is also an important part of what we are building. Our focus has always been simple: Educating communities. Building safer workplaces.

We are currently looking for partnerships and sponsors who would like to support low-to-no-cost community programs, especially for youth, families, newcomers, and other community groups in Alberta.

At NexusHub, our work focuses on training and development for businesses and workplaces, but I also strongly believe that safer workplaces begin with informed communities and knowledgeable families.

What we learn at home, in our communities, and while we are growing up eventually comes with us into the workplace.

One of my favourite parts of the expo was seeing high school students attend, ask questions, learn about different career paths, and discover some of the community programs we offer for youth.

And yes, I made sure they didn’t leave empty-handed. 😊 I chose a few special gifts because, after all, they are still children, and it was wonderful seeing how excited they were 😊

Educating communities. Building safer workplaces.

Grateful for the experience at the Oil Sands Expo 2026 in Fort McMurray, September 16–17.

I went into the expo somewhat skeptical about whether the investment would be worthwhile, but I came away with a completely different perspective.

I’m grateful for the experience, the conversations, the connections I built, and the potential projects and collaborations that may come from them.

More than anything, I appreciated the opportunity to listen and learn, to better understand what is happening in the market, the challenges companies are trying to solve, and where training and development can make a difference.

The experience also reminded me of the value of being there in person. After so many years of working and studying remotely, I’ve become very comfortable connecting online. But there is something different about being in the room, having substantive conversations, exchanging ideas, and discovering opportunities through genuine human interaction.

At some point, the experience opens the mind to how industries communicate and collaborate, and to how many possibilities can emerge simply because you showed up.
