🏊‍♂️NATIONAL COACHES WEEK🏊‍♀️
Introducing PTBO Swim Club Head Coach, Kent Crockower!
Kent brings a rich and diverse skill set to PTBO, having been a coach and educator for more than 35 years. He has taught in elementary, secondary, special education and international classroom settings and has coached sports across many levels. However, his first love has always been swimming.
Kent started as a competitive swimmer with the Peterborough Y Swim Club more than 50 years ago. After achieving podium finishes at provincial and national championships as an age group swimmer, he went on to swim in University qualifying as a finalist at the Canadian U-Sport Championships and competing in the 1984 Olympic Trials. His attention in the pool then turned to coaching.
Kent’s coaching career started at St. Mary’s Secondary School, where his teams won back to back COSSA swim championships.
As of 2012, he led the coaching team for the PTBO (formerly Trent) Swim School Program, and later became an Age Group Coach with PTBO, where his swimmers enjoyed great success qualifying and competing at the Regional, Provincial, Eastern Canadian and Junior National levels.
After teaching overseas for two years, Kent returned to coaching in Ontario in 2024, working with the Belleville Beasts Swim Team. There, his swimmers achieved top ten finishes at OAGs and OSCs, and recorded podium finishes and one provincial record.
Kent returned to PTBO to accept the position of Head Coach in 2025, and is excited to continue to lead and develop the team to great success!

Meet PTBO Swim Coach, Emma Van Dalen!
Emma has been in the water since she was 3 years old and swam competitively with Ducks Swim Club in Aurora, reaching the provincial level, and spending many years training both in the pool and on land.
Swimming has always been a big part of Emma’s family, she grew up watching her mom and grandpa coach, and has loved the sport from a young age. This passion is what led her to coaching, where she enjoys helping younger swimmers develop their skills and inspiring them to fall in love with the sport.
This is Emma’s first year coaching with the Peterborough Swim Club, where she will be working with the Swim School and Recreational programs while attending Trent University studying Psychology and English.
