What's making noise???

This hydronic pump tip brought to you by Armstrong Fluid Technology reveals how we can separate the pump from the motor for diagnostics.

The split coupling can be easily removed to isolate the pump from the motor so we can establish which portion is problematic.

Air conditioning changed how people live, work, and build.

Now the challenge is bigger: As the planet warms, demand for cooling rises with it, along with energy use and GHG emissions.

That is why sustainable cooling matters.

The industry has an opportunity to rethink how cooling is designed, delivered, and managed to reduce impact while meeting growing demand.

Measured in the field under real operating conditions.

In a structured 12-week field evaluation, the team replaced two old vertical pumps, complete with wall-mounted drives and one remote differential pressure sensor, with a new vertical Design Envelope Tango dual pump with integrated intelligent controls, utilizing parallel sensorless control.

The existing piping and system conditions were maintained, and energy consumption and performance were measured under identical load profiles.

Over 12 weeks, the results showed:
70% reduction in power consumption compared to the legacy pump
23,000 kWh in energy savings
3.74 tons of CO2 reduction
94% redundancy with intelligent controls and smoother operation

Decarbonization in pharma is no longer a regional conversation. It is becoming a global business priority.

Across the sector, companies are formalizing climate commitments, targeting both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, and investing in practical actions such as renewable energy procurement, process electrification, and high-efficiency HVAC and clean utility systems.

Real progress will depend on coordinated action across the value chain, backed by process innovation, supplier engagement, and strong governance.

Upgrading HVAC on a remote island takes more than new equipment. It takes a smarter approach.

At a luxury resort in the Maldives, managers needed to improve air conditioning across 15 guest villas while lowering operating costs.

Armstrong recommended Design Envelope technology with remote connectivity and cloud analytics.

The result: energy demand dropped from 190 kW to 144 kW, helping reduce equipment costs, fuel use, and carbon emissions.
