Topic: Query Letters

Don't make agents cry—unless it's on purpose. In this playful and practical workshop, we will dissect a deliberately awful query letter and synopsis for Anne of Green Gables. Then we'll look at a solid revision. We'll also discuss the realities of querying, the most common reasons agents hit the REJECT button, and when writers should take their project indie.

David Griffin Brown is the coauthor of three books for writers: Immersion and Emotion: The Two Pillars of Storytelling, Story Skeleton: The Classics, and Fake Query Letters by Dead Authors. He founded Darling Axe Editing in 2018, and as part of his Book Broker interview series, he has compiled querying advice from over 100 literary agents.
