There's something about the way the sun sets over Capri, sparkles paint the sea in Ibiza, and glances off the limestone cliffs of the Algarve, each city has its own glow, its own atmosphere, its own way of holding the light. We started thinking about what would happen if you translated that feeling into a fixture.

Each pairing is a study in atmosphere, how form, finish, and material can carry the memory of a place.

Which city's light would you bring into your next project?

This lighting installation at Sofitel Montreal, while rich in creative vision, presented unique production and ex*****on hurdles that became an exciting challenge for our team.

The original design included a concave, inner-domed structure to mimic a fabric’s fold. Realizing this vision required a material that became prohibitive, the team pivoted. While the final form diverged from the original domed vision, the adaptation retained the poetic elegance and sculptural presence that defined the concept. Being open to material and structural pivots—without sacrificing creative integrity—is part of the innovation process.

A tight delivery schedule limited the window for prototyping. Fixtures needed to be approved and delivered quickly, leaving minimal margin for design iteration. Thanks to our precision and attention to detail, VISO was able to produce quality work despite the quick turnaround.

Due to the timeframe, it was important for the design, manufacturing, and installation teams to communicate effectively around specific technical requirements, including lighting output and mounting methods. Establishing clear communication channels, defined roles, and consistent check-ins between designers, engineers, and on-site teams was essential to the success of the project.

At VISO, lighting is a composition rather than a simple addition.

Our designers approach lighting at the most elevated level, blending practicality with striking displays of artistry. From intentional layering to developing fixture proportions that reflect the space, VISO approaches light as a medium to be sculpted to perfection.

For designers, this matters twice over. Wellness is what we specify for the spaces we create, and it's what shapes the studios, workshops, and desks we spend our own hours in. The quality of light at a fabrication bench, the warmth of a conference room at the end of a long day, the glow of a hotel lobby that resets a guest after travel — they're all part of the same conversation.

At VISO, lighting is designed not only to illuminate a space, but to influence the experience within it. Quietly. Intentionally.

Guided by our clients' vision, we employ the transformative power of light and materiality to deliver exceptional white-glove service and quality on every single project.

Some projects are about a single fixture. Others are about building an entire world.

The Splash Pad, our collaboration with nivekremas and Dream Hotels for BDNY 2025, was the latter. And we're honoured to share that it has been named a 2026 NYCxDESIGN Awards finalist in the Exhibition/Installation category.

Inspired by the joy and nostalgia of a poolside moment, the brief was to translate the magnetic energy of Dream Hotels into a fully immersive environment — everyday leisure icons reimagined through craftsmanship, light, and material storytelling.

VISO design-engineered and fabricated the sculptural lighting and metalwork that anchored the space, including custom resin "floaties" moulded to mimic inflated forms, a rippled wave-cut metal ceiling in a custom VISO pale blue, and a 3D-printed illuminated ladder engineered for an even, diffused glow.
