In a feature with CBC Radio, Devron’s Pouyan Safapour shares his perspective on the move away from investor-driven, smaller-format condominiums and toward homes that respond to how people actually want to live.

Safapour states, “We need to return to a healthier market, where space and quality of condominiums are once again a priority, and respond to people’s needs rather than the speculative motivations of certain investors.”

While pre-construction sales have historically been driven largely by investors, changing market conditions are prompting developers to reconsider who they’re building for. For Safapour, this isn’t a new direction. Devron has been designing and developing condominiums specifically for end users since 2012.

With the coming launch of 1 Marlborough, that commitment takes shape in a limited collection of residences, all offering two bedrooms or more: a deliberate approach to creating homes where space, quality and livability take precedence.

In a new feature with Real Estate Magazine, Devron’s Pouyan Safapour reflects on a Toronto condo market where “end user” became almost a forgotten term and why putting the person who will actually live there back at the centre matters.

As Safapour puts it, “We’re not pivoting or changing because the wind is changing.” Devron has always been intentionally focused and passionate about building for End-Users, and he hopes that this cycle in the market results in a change in direction in the industry.
