During National Volunteer Week MADD Toronto wants to thank our amazing volunteers who take time out of their busy lives to help create safer streets here in Toronto. Through their efforts whether it be working with TPS or OPP at RIDE stops; attending community events; speaking with senior high school students; addressing police recruits graduating classes or providing support to victims - volunteers are making a difference and raising awareness about the impacts of impaired driving.
Every hour in Canada, an average of nine federal criminal charges and provincial short-term licence suspensions are laid for alcohol or drug-impaired driving. This sobering statistic reinforces the importance of the work MADD volunteers do.
Each time you influence someone to make the right decision - to drive sober - you may be saving a life. On behalf of all of us who have loved ones on the streets - we thank you.
