We're moving next week into our new and beautiful home and I can't wait to put up portraits of our babies on the wall.

Just finished this one of Kector this evening, and gonna start up on Lu's tomorrow. They're going to be like those old school profile portraits, looking at each other on the wall in gorgeously tacky gold frames (though in real life, it's with far less interest and much more disdain 😬💁‍♀️).

If you weren't sure about a last minute gift for someone who's got everything, or you just don't know what to get, a pet portrait is a gift they'll never forget.

Last year, my work secret Santa receiver had a teeny cute BB pup, and so I got to draw this lil guy as the gift. Max and his gf were So blown away, and I'm so glad that I get to share in that kinda love.

Or, are they super close to their parents, sibling, friend? On the next slide, see a portrait I did hanging up at the front door of the recipient's house.

Got to do this really sweet commission for someone whose friend's best pal died recently. They got the photo-realistic option of my pet portrait, but added a couple custom requests: he was a guy who needed to wear a turtleneck, and wanted to have a Dia de los Mu***os kind of rose crown on him. Based on the pictures I got, this was definitely manageable, though ultimately I'm more a fan of simplicity in portraits, I gave him the three options you see before you. Not completely sold on the crown, we went for an easier option of simply copying and warping the original rose into a crown so they'd have a couple choices nonetheless.

I loooove doing these commissions, and I'm so pleased with how this one turned out. And so was the client: "Wow!

I’ll be honest…I love them both. I think you did a really terrific job capturing his little idiosyncrasies :-)".

That's my favorite thing: making sure your little pal is memorialized in a way that makes your heart flutter when you look at the picture.
