Did you know Toronto has a brand-new waterfront park? 🌿

Biidaasige Park is located in the Port Lands, just 15 minutes by bus from Union Station! 🚌

I spent some time exploring it today, and to be honest… I was a little disappointed by the lack of trees and shade. There aren’t many cozy spots for a picnic or relaxing in the shade just yet, though it’s great for walking and biking! 🚴‍♀️🚶‍♀️

That said, there are definitely cool things to check out:

🎨 Public art sculptures along the Lassonde Art Trail
🛝 Ziplines & a giant climbable owl playground
🚣‍♀️ Kayak and canoe launches
🏙️ Beautiful skyline views!

📌 Save this for the next time you’re looking for new places to explore in Toronto!

SHOOTING AT SALSA FESTIVAL: EVENT CANCELED FOR POLICE INVESTIGATION

SHOOTING AT SALSA FESTIVAL: EVENT CANCELED FOR POLICE INVESTIGATION
I am heartbroken by yesterday’s tragedy at Salsa on St. Clair. It is devastating to see our space for unity taken over by violence. As a member of this scene, my heart goes out to the victims and our entire dance community. May our resilience help us find strength during this time of grief.

They say you have 3 seconds to capture attention online. But what happens after that?

If your website, your email funnel, and your social strategy aren’t telling a cohesive story, you’re losing revenue.

My work is simple: I use the precision of a journalist and the strategy of a consultant to ensure your brand isn’t just seen, it’s remembered.

I’m looking for founders and creative projects that are ready for a professional, full-funnel overhaul.

What I bring to the table with Inka Digital Works 💡Digital Marketing Strategies
— Architectural website design
— Strategic email & ad funnels
— Brand-aligned social content
I also can train you to do all of this using AI by yourself or with your team 🙂

Stop settling for “online presence” and start building a digital asset. DM me to request a consultation. ✨☀️

Meeting people from all over the world who want to dive deep into Brazilian culture is a passion of mine.

Loved connecting with Kimberly, and we even bonded over our family names and the shared history between Portugal and India (and of course, Brasil) Such a unique chat!

And you? Have you ever tried Capoeira?

The whole world is about to spend weeks cheering for “Brazil.” Or would that be “Brasil”?

Germany calls itself “Deutschland.” China is “Zhōngguó.” Italy is “Italia.” At some point, English speakers decided to rename the world’s countries in their own language, without asking anyone.

Linguists have a term for this: the local version is an endonym, the version imposed from outside is an exonym. Some people see no problem with that. Others see it as a question of cultural autonomy. Both sides have an argument.

But when it comes to my country, Brasil, the history runs deeper.

The name came from a tree. Pau-brasil, a wood with red sap that Portuguese colonizers sold to Europe as textile dye. Valuable enough to name an entire land before anyone thought to ask the people already living there. Then English speakers inherited that name, swapped the S for a Z because it fit their phonetics better, and the world went along.

And before the colonizers? The Tupi people had already given this land a name. Pindorama. Land of Palm Trees. That one only made it into the history books.

Spelling, history, sociology. Several layers in a conversation that looks simple from the outside.

What do you think? Do country names really need a “translation” into English, or should the original name stay? Comment below.
