We are so excited to finally launch our first session of our program: Wá Jẹun. We hope it's the beginning of many more.
The phrase "Wa Jeun" means “come and eat” in Yoruba.
It's an invitation for friends, family, and strangers to share a meal, reflecting a cultural practice of care, connection, and nourishment. As the African proverb says, “One who eats alone can not discuss the taste of the food with others.”
This in person workshop will include hands-on cooking demonstrations where participants learn to prepare culturally relevant African, Black, or Caribbean (ABC) meals using healthier ingredients and techniques without compromising taste or tradition.
Each workshop will feature an interactive session led by a health expert on related topics that disproportionately affect Black communities, such as stress, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

What a fun day at the inaugural Elevate Her: Healing Power and Rest women's symposium.
It was a great day to connect and meet others in the community, and sit down in a safe space to discuss many things that affect Black health and wellness.
We were honored to be part of the space to share our work, speak about an important topic, and be around many beautiful, amazing people.

This month, we are tackling a big topic. In a world that is busy where you always need to bring your "A game," how do you find time to rest? Burnout is real, and the expectations are high. Sometimes, it seems easier to tuck the stress away and deny it's happening.
Join our session as we take time to talk, learn, and listen to our body, mind, and soul.
Let connect with each other and give ourselves permission to slow down to celebrate and appreciate ourselves.

Today marks the first day of Black History Month. Here in Canada, we celebrate 30 years since the motion was introduced by Dr. Augustine. The motion passed unanimously in December 1995.
The 2026 national theme“ Honoring Black Brilliance Across Generations – From Nation Builders to Tomorrow's Visionaries," celebrates Black Excellence Past. Present and Future.
While Black history is every day, we encourage everyone to take the opportunity this month, to learn and reflect on the injustice Black individuals have and continue to face, but also to celebrate the amazing contributions they have and continue to make.
We are all connected as a community (nation). How we continue to be change makers and advocate for justice and equity starts with these simple steps.
Black History Month has important deep significant roots.
Let's celebrate!
