Sheng Wang’s first Netflix special, Sweet and Juicy, was the funniest stand-up I’d seen in years. I messaged him to see if he was coming to Toronto, and he said nothing planned but he’d definitely come up on his next tour.

So every time he’d post new tour dates and there was nothing for Toronto, I’d hit him up again… and again... (sorry man) until finally he did not one, but FOUR sold-out shows here at the

Sheng was kind enough to let me spend some time with him before one of the shows. He mentioned that he also loves taking pictures, so I asked him to take one of me. I could tell by the way he was holding the camera he was framing it up real nice. Thanks, my man!

NIRVANA + J MASCIS April 9, 2014
After yesterday’s Nirvana post, a lot of you commented or messaged me asking about ...

When he played School, it was loud AF. Like so loud that seasoned crew members with really good ear plugs looked at each other like “What the f*ck is happening right now?”. It hurt my insides.

When the song ended, J asked if he could turn his guitar up just a little bit. Dave was like, “Are you f*cking insane?”, and Sean went and cranked it up a notch. One of my favourite moments of that rehearsal.

NIRVANA + JOAN JETT April 8, 2014.

That morning was the first time Krist, Dave and Pat got together to play Nirvana songs in 20 years. They were rehearsing for a secret performance at their upcoming Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.

That afternoon, Joan Jett joined the guys to rehearse her three songs: Smells Like Teen Spirit, Breed and Territorial Pissings. Go to the last slide for the full set list.

I feel so incredibly fortunate to have been the only non-crew member in the room. I still have to pinch myself.

BILLY TALENT - 03/21/2006
20 years ago today, we shot the publicity photos for Billy Talent II, while the band was in Los Angeles mixing the record.

I only had them for a few hours in the afternoon, so that morning I wandered the city scouting some interesting spots. I definitely wanted to use the Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by fellow Canadian Frank Gehry, because it’s so stunning visually. But I was sure we’d need permits, etc… Luckily I discovered a little nook that was kind of out of sight.

Slide 6 with the yellow marks is a contact sheet of a roll of film shot with a Widelux camera that had a light leak.

But first we went to the Vermont Ave subway station. You know the ones where they’re all squinting? I really wanted photos in front of the big curved silver entrance and the glass tiled floor, and noonish was the only time we could do it… I believe #10-11 were downstairs at the same subway station.

What band photo shoot would be complete without a vacant lot? So we hit up a couple of those and called it a day.

Alain Johannes just posted this picture that I took of Them Crooked Vultures at Metropolis in Montreal in 2010, and it reminded me how much f*cking fun I had with those guys. Thanks !

The times I went out with them in 2009-2010 were some of the most exciting of my life.
