are partnering with Black and Afro-Indigenous therapists and service providers to offer free therapy sessions/support!
This initiative provides an Afro-Indigenous, 2-Spirit, and Black-centred mental health response that is culturally, spiritually grounded, and trauma-informed. The goal is to advance prevention, healing, and well-being; reduce reliance on emergency departments and law-enforcement responses during mental health crises; expand equitable access to culturally grounded care; and strengthen long-term Black community and service-system capacity.
These supports are available for Black adults ages 18+ who identify with one or more of the following experiences:
• Afro-Indigenous, Black and Indigenous, or African-diasporic
• 2-Spirit, q***r, trans, and/or gender-diverse
• Living with HIV
• Using substances or needing harm reduction supports
• Immigrants, refugees, or undocumented community members
• Experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness
• Facing barriers related to racism, stigma, lack of primary care, or service exclusion
Supports may include one-on-one therapy, group healing spaces, peer support, and virtual or in-person options, depending on availability.
Spots are limited. Interested individuals are encouraged to complete the registration form and a member of the team will follow up if they are able to connect them with available support: https://bit.ly/4tmLfrS

On April 21, Positive Health Network, alongside Community Alliance for Accessible Treatment (CAAT), brought together a powerful day of learning, reflection, and action—centering the lived experiences of African, Caribbean, and Black newcomers living with HIV.
We heard from individuals who came to Canada seeking freedom from stigma, only to encounter new barriers along the way. And yet—what stood out most was not the hardship, but the strength. Their resilience. Their courage. Their unwavering commitment to building full, vibrant lives and lifting others as they rise.
Today, these community members are not only thriving—they are shaping Ontario for the better. They are leaders, advocates, and changemakers, helping to build more compassionate, inclusive systems for those who will follow.
People living with HIV continue to show us what it means to persevere with purpose, to create with vision, and to lead with heart.
Join us in building a province where every newcomer living with HIV can access care without fear, live without stigma, and thrive—fully and unapologetically.
