🕵🏻♀️ALINA wants to know if you can see the difference.
She first started showing signs of eosinophilic granuloma somewhere between 1-2 years ago. It rarely rears its annoying head, but the few times it has, has provided the confirmation that our wee special needs gal, Alina, has some food allergies that triggers an autoimmune response.
Her recent flare up, we think, was possibly a result of some Merrick pouches we were trying. We do know that putting her back on the Tiki Cat she has also been enjoying, has seemed to help reduce her lip flare-up. And when she decides to be a fuss bucket, weirdly, she tolerates some delectables swirled in. You'd think lower end food would be a given trigger, but apparently not - tho she doesn't eat it as a meal, so maybe smaller quantities makes it okay. 🤷🏻♀️
Eosinophilic granuloma can present in different ways. The Addams family has linear eosinophilic granuloma which causes a flare-up and lesions on the backs of their legs with some fur loss that appears linear. Our tortie, Smudge also has clear food allergies that trigger her eosinophilic granuloma. Smudge develops lip swelling and some sores around the outside of her mouth.
For Alina and Smudge, generally speaking, we just need to let the flare-up run its course and it self-resolves when we remove the allergen. For the Addams family - we are still working through what their triggers are exactly and whether it's environmental, food or both.
Ultimately, Alina is feeling better and her lip swelling and inflammation is definitely going down. There's a teensy bit of mild redness on the inside of her bottom lip, but it's otherwise resolved.😸
THANK YOU for helping support our Wee Dollar Wednesday AND for joining in on our Mother's Day Auction! 💖
Wee Dollar Wednesday raised enough to pay Bloop's bill fully and make a dent into Blep's bill with a total of $135.82 raised.
Blep's balance still owing is now $115.62 - do you think we can raise this today? I'm heading to Kahu AH later with Gia. I will be paying Bloop's bill today and it would be amazing if we could also include Blep's bill as part of our Wee Dollar fundraiser - even if raised on a Friday - after all, help with paying bills is appreciated any day.💜
Our Loving Mom - Mother's Day Auction raised $562 to help with our day to day expenses and medical bills!💛
Your support means the world.

Catstravaganza last Saturday couldn't have been more purrrfect! Thank you to Loving Cats Worldwide for putting on such a great event!
Lots of people to meet, our kitties were on their bestest behaviours and with the exception of Pugsley (the cat who chose to burrow away for the day - I did not grab his pic, sorry!), everyone was curious and ready to schmooze with the people! And might I also add that all 3 cats wore their Purrfect Handcrafts hats so well - we were all impressed! Petey wore the cutest cow hat that worked well with his patchwork. Milton wore a sweet spring flower hat. Wednesday seemed quite happy to wear her adorable frog hat!
With the support of everyone who bought something or simply gave a gift to help support our cats, we raised $469! THANK YOU!💜🎉
Thank you to our volunteers, Sam (who helped set-up), Aria and one who shall remain nameless for their hard work and support during the event. It wouldn't be the same without you guys!❤️
Thank you to Wallie from Guardian's Best Animal Rescue Foundation who so kindly helped drop off Wednesday and Pugsley back home. And to our awesome baker, Darien for her wonderful cookies!
Can't wait for the next one - if you didn't make it out this time, there's always next time! 😸

TUX has had a hard time since losing his wife, Peaches on Saturday night. His foster moms mentioned that he was looking for her and more restless at night - waking and wandering when he normally would be a solid sleeper.🥺 It's been hard on everyone.
Yesterday, Tux had his first grooming day all alone without his wife. I had planned to take the dogs for a nice outing afterwards, so that's what Tux got - we went to see the cherry blossoms at High Park before the winds blew all the petals to the ground.
I often forget how much I have not been doing in life for myself until I'm doing it and it feels so de-stressing. I hope Tux felt a bit of calm too. I think he enjoyed the walking and stroller ride. I am very sure he enjoyed sticking his nose in the air for sniffs - he did that a number of times. He's such a low maintenance fellow.
I tried to get him to appreciate the flowers up close, but I don't think he's a flower guy.
In June, we will be at the Trinity Bellwoods dog bowl for Party 4 Paws put on by Guardian's Best. As I was out with Tux yesterday, I realized that I'm now able to bring him to hang out and spend the day together. It is such a bittersweet realization because Peaches never could contain herself and was so vocally excited around other dogs, that it wasn't realistic to bring them before. We wouldn't be able to think past her barking, lol. She always had so much to say. I miss that girl terribly. As do her foster moms and Tux. I'm taking her to Thistledown today. I feel sad today.
But yesterday - yesterday felt good to be outside, doing nothing more than just existing. I think Tux needed that. I know I did.
😻🎉YOU GUYS ROCK!🎉
Not only did you guys come together for Chudley and our sweet angel🪽Louie's final bill owing, but your support also allowed us to pay and clear two more outstanding balances for Frost (since adopted) and a kitty named Mary Jane (no longer in our care) - PLUS, partial payments towards outstanding balances belonging to Chudley, Hollyberry and Pugsley.
I cannot express the depth of my gratitude for what you guys have done in such a short time.💜🫂❤️
THANK YOU.
🩷Stay tuned for our Wee Dollar Wednesday coming this week - a day where we now showcase one or two kitties whose balances owing need your help. It's the weekly chip away at debt time while balancing additional fundraising for the ongoing medical and general needs of our cats and sweet grieving Tux.
You keep us moving forward. Please don't ever question the impact of your gifts - no matter the size.😌
Our sweet GIA is at Kahu AH today while we try to figure out with her vet, the best next steps. Our sweet senior is not having an easy time as she awaits her dental X-rays and surgery.
Her pain medications haven't been helping and we've been trying new ones without success. Instead, she's gotten worse over the weekend with nausea and vomiting and even pooped where she lay which is very unlike her. Her foster mom noticed that even drinking has decreased and that she just sits at her bowl, not doing anything. 😔
Gia is so fortunate to have a sponsor looking after her medical care expenses and we are beyond grateful for this support as it removes weight from an otherwise, heavy load we are currently carrying.💜
We have at least 3 more dentals who need your support (Tiggy, Morticia and Wednesday). Our online fundraisers and in-person events are a great way to help us grow the funds needed to ensure all medical care is covered.
Please participate in our current Loving Mom - Mother's Day Auction - you can find it easily pinned to the top of our page. We will be adding a couple more items today and have some single Buy Now items (one sold already! Don't miss out on the rest!)
