The market has seen this movie before.
In September 2018, Tilray Brands, Inc. became one of the most dramatic examples of how a small public float, elevated short interest, and aggressive call option activity can combine to create extraordinary price volatility. Academic research has since studied the event as a textbook short squeeze.
No two companies are identical, and history rarely repeats itself exactly. But investors should pay attention when familiar market mechanics begin to emerge.
We’re starting to see increased activity in SpaceX call options alongside a tightly controlled float and significant investor interest. Whether it develops into something larger remains to be seen.
The important point isn’t predicting another Tilray. It’s recognizing that market structure can sometimes matter just as much as fundamentals in the short term.
