A great first round of auditions. Thanks to everyone who came out! We have talent a plenty going in to our callbacks. That said, we still have a room for a few more ladies who might want to join us as courtesans. The Courtesans are great featured roles. If you've ever wanted to give burlesque dancing a shot (fully clothed though) these roles are for you. If interested in auditioning but missed the first round we'd be happy to see you on callback day Sunday, February 23rd from 2:50 - 3:50pm. If interested please contact: [email protected] or call 416-781-7160

FAQ: what kind of monologue should I do?

Comedic is best for this show. The director is looking for at your ability to make sense of text and in the case of this show your ability to land a punchline. Your monologue does not have to be specifically geared towards a particular character. Just like your song choice, choose a monologue that you’re comfortable with and can play with.

Hints from the artistic staff: If you're auditioning for a protean seriously consider doing a joke instead of a monologue. There are a lot of one liners in the show and demonstrating that you can deliver a punchline is a definite plus. It's also easier to prep!

Make sure you know it well though. There will be redirects!

FAQ: Should my sheet music be in a specific format?

1. Make sure you have a nice, clean copy of your music that clearly indicates the starting and end points of the piece. You should make sure that no notes are cut off on the bottom or sides of the page.
2. The music should be in a binder and not loose sheets. It should also be in the key in which you wish to sing it. Our pianist will not sight transpose music.
3. If you are attaching sheets together please use tape not staples. You don’t want to wound the piano player when they are trying to turn pages.
4. If you’re bringing a music selection book make sure it can lay flat on the piano’s music stand so the pianist doesn’t have to hold it.
