![The HALOCLINE was scientifically discovered in the 1950s, but it is documented in the Quran more than 1400 years ago.
The Quran states that when two bodies of water meet, one fresh and sweet, the other salty, they don’t mix, there is a barrier that separates them:
Quran 55:19-20
19. He merged the two seas, converging together.
20. Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun.

And it is He who merged the two seas; this one fresh and sweet, and that one salty and bitter; and He placed between them a barrier, and an impassable boundary.
The phenomenon where two bodies of water meet but do not immediately mix is a real, scientifically documented occurrence known as a halocline (a vertical salinity gradient) or an oceanic front.
The halocline—a vertical water layer where salinity changes rapidly—was formally identified and named in the mid-20th century, appearing in scientific literature between roughly 1955 and 1960.
