You're not bad at Google Ads.
Your setup is wrong.
We've audited hundreds of accounts. The business that "tried Google Ads and it didn't work" almost always made the same single mistake on day one.
They turned on Maximize Conversions with zero conversion history.
Here's why that destroys your results, and the exact 3-phase fix we use with every client:
THE PROBLEM: Google's smart bidding needs data to be smart.
Without conversion history, the algorithm doesn't know what your customer looks like. So it does what all algorithms do when flying blind, it finds the cheapest traffic available.

Your Target CPA = Phase 1 average cost per lead, minus 10–15%.

Consider Target ROAS only if your conversion values vary.
Most local businesses: stay on Target CPA.
