What an absolute blast and pleasure was to compete alongside with such incredibly talented people. It is an absolute honour to be able to go represent Canada and of course, Mexico to the Global Finals in Portugal!

Thank you Graham’s for the amazing opportunity to allow me to pour my heart into this cocktail competition and thanks to everyone who came to support. Thank you also to Taberna LX staff and Mark Anthony for organizing this amazing event.

What an awesome event Monkey Shoulder and Civil Liberties put together last month.
Surely one of the most fun competitions I’ve ever been a part of. Wether it’s a win or a loose, you always win. Not only did I have a blast with my very talented friends, but also made new friends that are killing in the hospitality game. For me, this is what competitions are all about.

It has been difficult to put last week into words after letting it sink in, how incredible this place was. From the five star hospitality to all the primos working at the Casona, to the amazing hosts Marty, Bre and Jason as well as the awesome group of new and old friends that got invited too.
It is so very heart warming to see how happy everyone that works at this magical place is, they not only are eager to spread the Mexican tradition to all the people that they visit the Casona but they are also so very proud of working for this incredible company. It is true what I had been told, photos don’t do it justice and I am so very grateful to have been part of this once in a lifetime trip.

What an incredible and heart warming experience. Not only were we so fortunate to learn a lot about Sotol which it’s almost impossible to find accurate information about, but we also had the pleasure and honour to hear the way it’s made straight from the best in the business, they all have captivating stories, some of them mind blowing and humbling since they’re some of the hardest working and giving people I’ve met, with the biggest hearts welcoming strangers into their home and sharing these memories, some of them very sad and frustrating due to the giants in the business (people with way more marketing and production money in order to launch their brands for export) trying to take advantage of other’s economical reach but also learned that there is a big problem of over harvesting this very interesting Sotol plant.
But most importantly, I made such amazing friends that I learned so much from and share these beautiful experiences with.

Gracias Nathan for inviting me to be part of this! Gracias Randall for all your knowledge about fermentation and distillation science! I look forward to visiting you in Oaxaca! Gracias Sandro for introducing us to these beautiful maestros and their families and teaching us so much about the industry! I know we only scratched the surface but I cannot wait to keep learning and sharing this knowledge with others!
