Stories always find me. The day I found this dollhouse I was on my way to grab groceries and saw it sitting on the curb. The little kid in me couldn’t just leave it there. I went into the grocery store with the dollhouse in my trolly, and the lady who put it on the curb came up to me saying how happy she was to meet the person who picked it up. She said she did art therapy at an old folks home and originally got the house as a craft project, but decided to get rid of it after a few failed attempts to paint it. I had no idea what I was going to do with it then, but I knew its purpose would reveal itself to me in time. It would eventually become the portal into “A time before this,” acting as the vessel for the story. I couldn’t be more happy with the way it turned out. What do you I think?

Cinematography-
My Grammy came to visit and expressed wanting to reconnect with her artistic side, so l made it my mission to get my girl creating again and having fun while doing it! It’s so easy to feel pressured to create “good” art and it was stopping her from even exploring what that could look like. I have felt that way many times, so it felt good to encourage my Grammy to play and explore herself through art, in the same ways she has encouraged me to continue expressing myself with mine!
