RCM's ensemble-in-residence, dedicated to recovering suppressed & marginalized 20th century music.

The multiple Grammy Award-nominee ARC Ensemble (Artists of The Royal Conservatory) is among Canada's most distinguished cultural ambassadors. Performing a wide range of music, its focus remains the research and recovery of works that were suppressed and marginalized under the 20th century's repressive regimes. A growing number of hitherto unknown masterworks are rejoining the repertoire as a result of the ARC Ensemble's work.

The ARC Ensemble and Koffler Arts are celebrating the film and chamber music of the legendary composer Miklós Rózsa in an upcoming series of captivating events. Two of his favourite films, The Lost Weekend and Providence, will be screened on March 30 and April 9 respectively, and the ARC Ensemble's Artistic Director, Simon Wynberg, will give a talk about Rózsa on April 3 (all three events will take place at Toronto’s Miles Nadal JCC.) The ARC Ensemble's concert on April 6 at the Royal Conservatory's Mazzoleni Hall includes Rózsa's songs, performed by the extraordinary soprano Elena Howard-Scott, his Piano Quintet op. 2, and what will be the first modern performance (quite possibly the premiere) of an unknown String Sextet. The ARC Ensemble will collaborate with the gifted students from the Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School.
