🎙️ While the music industry often celebrates its progress, many women continue to face familiar and unacceptable challenges behind the scenes. The latest Soundcheck survey reveals ongoing stories of verbal and sexual harassment that persist in workplaces across the industry. These are not isolated incidents, they’re a reflection of systemic issues that remain unresolved, despite years of awareness and advocacy.Real change requires more than conversation. It demands action, accountability, and safe spaces where every voice is protected and respected. The survey remains open. Every story contributes to a clearer, more honest picture and a stronger call for industry-wide reform.
Preliminary results from the Soundcheck Survey on Mental Health confirm what international research has long shown:The arts & entertainment industries face some of the highest rates of mental health challenges, burnout, and toxic work environments across sectors. In Canada’s music industry, we’re seeing patterns that mirror global data:• High emotional strain• Precarious working conditions• Poor psychological safety• Lack of support for marginalized communitiesThis is a wake-up call, not a surprise. It’s time for our industry to invest in sustainable, human-centred change—not just individual resilience.More findings coming soon. Stay tuned.

Saw an article today suggesting that Gen Z doesn’t want to be in leadership. But let’s dig a bit deeper.
Young adults—especially Gen Z—are the largest cohort affected by our current mental health crisis (Richard et al., 2022). It’s not just about ambition or work ethic; it’s about a generation navigating a world that’s biologically, psychologically, and socially out of balance.
Many are grappling with weakened identity buffers, financial stress, strained workplace relationships, and the pressure of always being “on” in a hyper-curated digital world. They’re not rejecting leadership—they’re rejecting a broken model of leadership that often overlooks humanity, purpose, and well-being.
At Revelios, we believe that mental health and leadership are not separate conversations. In fact, our research is showing that human-centred leadership—rooted in trust, psychological safety, and purpose—can meaningfully improve well-being and performance for young professionals and the teams they lead.
This generation doesn’t lack leadership potential. They just refuse to lead in ways that compromise their health, values, or the well-being of others.
You can find a short summary of my research report through on our website www.revelios.com under Research and Resources.
If we want future leaders, we need to build future-ready workplaces.
