World AIDS DAY 12/01/2025

DEAF OUTREACH PROGRAM

TODAY β€” WORLD AIDS DAY, DECEMBER 1, 2025
A red candle β€” a light.
A small flame glowing, while the world around is dark, chaotic, disrupted.
Services break. People struggle. Community risks rise.
But this flame refuses to die.
This flame = strength.
Disruption can be overcome. The AIDS response can be transformed.
We honor people living with HIV.
We support people still fighting.
The Deaf community is strong β€” we share information and protect each other.
One candle grows into many β€” one light β†’ many lights β†’ a brighter world.
On 1 December, the World Health Organization (WHO) joins partners and communities for World AIDS Day 2025.
Theme: Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.
Call to action: Sustain political leadership, strengthen international cooperation, and keep a human-rights focus β€” to end AIDS by 2030.
After decades of progress, the HIV response stands at a crossroads.
Life-saving services are disrupted. Communities face higher risk.
Yet even in challenge, hope endures β€” through determination, resilience, and innovation.
Worldwide (2024):
β€’ 40 million people living with HIV
β€’ 31 million receiving treatment β€” living healthy lives
β€’ 1.3 million new infections
β€’ 630,000 AIDS-related deaths
Transmission: blood, sexual fluids, mother-to-child.
Not spread by hugging or sharing objects.
Prevention works: condoms, PrEP, safer practices.
Testing saves lives: early detection = early treatment.
