ARS Toronto Roubina Chapter

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the ARS Roubina Chapter's Educational Committee hosted an educational event titled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Our Lives Today.” The guest speaker, Mr. Raphael Arakelian, Cybersecurity Manager, delivered an informative and accessible presentation to an audience of more than 100 attendees eager to learn about this rapidly evolving field.

Mr. Arakelian began by defining what Artificial Intelligence is, then walked the audience through the major milestones that have shaped the development of AI. He explained the different
types of AI—Analytical AI, Predictive AI, Generative AI, Assistive AI, and Agentic AI—highlighting how each functions and where they are commonly used.

He also shared practical examples of how small businesses, community organizations, and educational institutions can integrate AI tools to enhance efficiency, decision‑making,
and innovation. In the final portion of his talk, Mr. Arakelian addressed the risks and safety practices that must accompany responsible AI use.

The presentation concluded with a lively Q&A session, during which attendees posed thoughtful questions and gained valuable insights from the discussion.

A reception followed, giving participants the opportunity to connect, reflect, and continue the conversation. Attendees left feeling grateful for the opportunity to learn and inspired to explore how AI can positively impact their daily lives and communities.
