"A Fragrant Lament".. by David Houston.
This poem for all Scot’s who’ve been part of the Scottish diaspora (me included). Hope it swells your hearts, especially with Scotland at the World Cup.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽ 🎵 Funny How Scotland Won Every World Cup (When We Were Young)🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

His first World Cup was Argentina ‘78. He was nearly 10 years old and he's never forgotten watching Archie Gemmill’s wonder goal against the Netherlands and the fleeting hope that came with it.

Long summer evenings.
Jumpers for goalposts.
Big dreams.

💛 If enough people enjoy it, he'd love to release it properly and donate any future proceeds to support Brian House Children’s Hospice and CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland).

"American Shame has Donny to blame!"
Every word true, about the Red, S***e & Blue. Neither Friend nor Foe,
While Donny's Cult is in tow.
Denied Voter their Rights, Freedom taken too;
ICE, cruel, detained Innocent, depraved;
A return of Jim Crowe; your people enslaved?
For decades you cried "All for One - One for All,"
Now Canada turns its back, an American Empire doth fall.
Was it the Education System, that could have educated: Truth?
Was it the Politicians that stood by as your Leaders incited hate, waged War; so uncouth?
Was it the millions of GOP & MAGA Followers that joined in on those chants?
No! It was the whole of the US of A with fire in their pants!.. R Anthony H. Rock (May 27th. 2026)

“Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day’s useless energy spent
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one;
Lonely man cries for love and has none;
New mother picks up and suckles her son;
Senior citizens wish they were young”

“Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colours from our sight
Red is grey is yellow white
But we decide which is right
And which is an illusion” -Graeme Edge 05/19/2026

"Late Lament"
Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day's useless energy is spent.

Impassioned lovers wrestle as one;
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.

Cold-hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight,
Red is grey is yellow white,
But we decide which is right,
And which is an illusion.

"We Have NotLong To Love"
“We have not long to love.
Light does not stay.
The tender things are those
we fold away.
Coarse fabrics are the ones
for common wear.
In silence I have watched you
comb your hair.
Intimate the silence,
dim and warm.
I could but did not, reach
to touch your arm.
I could, but do not, break
that which is still.
(Almost the faintest whisper
would be shrill.)
So moments pass as though
they wished to stay.
We have not long to love.
A night. A day...”.. by Tennessee Williams
by: Eiler Sørensen, Morning Sun - circa 1916.
