We are thrilled to announce that all profits from our book, Starry Skies, Cosmic Shakes, will be donated to .wheels.tour to support their incredible work raising awareness for Parkinson’s disease.

Starry Skies, Cosmic Shakes is a story about resilience, and finding light in the darkest of times—values that resonate strongly with the mission of Spinning Wheels. This amazing Canadian cycling organization is not only inspiring people with Parkinson’s to stay active but also fostering stronger, more connected communities across the country.

By purchasing a copy of our book, you’ll contribute to their efforts as they embark on their 10,000 km journey across Canada, from coast to coast, meeting and supporting people with Parkinson’s. Profits will help fund community programs, outreach, and critical resources, especially in underserved regions.

✨ In Starry Skies, Cosmic Shakes, Alex gets deep brain stimulation (DBS) to treat his Parkinson’s disease symptoms after his medication no longer does the trick. But what exactly is DBS?

🧠 DBS is a treatment where tiny electrodes are placed in specific areas of the brain, connected to a small device under the skin. This device sends electrical pulses to help control symptoms.

💡 DBS is used for conditions including Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, epilepsy, and severe OCD, helping people manage symptoms and improve their quality of life.

Creating the stunning images for Starry Skies, Cosmic Shakes was an exciting journey with the AI program MidJourney! 🌌✨ While AI played a crucial role, achieving the perfect outcome required countless iterations and significant human input. We often went through hundreds of versions to get each image just right, like Alex here. 👌

This experience highlights an important lesson: as AI continues to advance, especially in fields like medicine, human expertise remains essential. AI is a powerful tool, but it’s the thoughtful and skilled input from people that brings out its full potential. 💪🦾
