Continuing the series that I started a while back. I thought it would be interesting to build this letter around the lowercase letter. Kinda weird, but I like it! 🤔

The one lettering tool I cannot live without is the pencil. ✏️ The way it connects with paper is simply unmatched in my opinion.

I can't count the number of times I've lettered a piece in pencil, loved it, inked it, and then felt slightly let down by the end result. The work hasn't been changed substantially by the addition of ink, but the initial rawness and emotion I poured into the work is missing. Playing with letters and trying to put them together in a cohesive manner is the most beautiful and meaningful part of the lettering experience.

If you haven't picked up your pencil in a while, let this be a gentle nudge to do so. ❤️

I have been casually learning Spencerian and it is taking me back to my early days learning modern calligraphy. I say "casually" because I am just pulling from what I find in books and online exemplars. My work is not technically accurate, but this is how I like to operate...mimicking what I see and then totally running with it, for better or for worse. 🤣

I used the Sketch Brush Pen for this piece, and if you haven't tried it, you definitely should! It's a lovely brush pen.

Sharing some photos from the last three workshops I taught with the Learning Disabilities Association Toronto District. I love teaching these classes and my students - all of them newcomers to Canada - are amazing and kind. ☺️

These workshops have expanded this year to cover everything from hand lettering, to English vocabulary, to hands-on activities such as drawing, painting, paper crafts and zentangle. Every class is tailored to a specific theme or holiday so students get to learn about these events and their importance to Canadian culture.

I have learned so much about teaching students with LDs and ADHD and this is in large part to the incredible staff working at LDATD. I am so grateful for their tireless work to support and advocate for individuals with disabilities. ❤️
