Posted speed limits represent the maximum speed you can drive under ideal road conditions. But when weather conditions worsen, or roads are slick and icy, it's important to slow down for your safety and the safety of others.
In Ontario, while thereβs no specific ticket for adjusting your speed based on weather or road conditions. You could still face charges for careless driving if an officer believes you're not driving with "due care and attention" or without "reasonable consideration" for other road users.
When traction and/ or visibility are reduced, always adjust your speed accordingly. Stay safe and drive responsibly.

Did you know that tires have an expiration date, even if the tread looks fine? π Itβs not just about wear and tear β age can affect your tireβs performance, putting you and your passengers at risk.
Over time, tires can develop cracks, dry rot, or even degrade internally, making them less reliable. Here's how you can ensure your tires are safe for the road this new year:
π Check the Manufacture Date: Every tire has a DOT number printed on its sidewall. The last four digits of this number tell you the week and year your tire was made. For example, β2319β means the tire was made in the 23rd week of 2019.
π Get Your Tires Inspected: Even if you donβt see visible signs of damage, itβs always a good idea to have a mechanic check for cracking, abnormal wear, or expiration. Donβt take chances β your safety is worth it!
Keep your ride smooth and safe this year! πͺ

Are your car seats expired? Every car seat and booster seat in Canada has a "useful life date" or expiry date on the seat and base. If you have difficulty locating it, you can call the manufacturer for assistance.
Remember, in Ontario a car seat or booster seat must be used with children under eight years old, or you may get a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act.

Dont forget to set your clocks back an hour, as the clocks roll back in the early morning hours this Sunday!
In addition to causing sleep disruption, the change in daylight hours can also contribute to an increase in accidents. During the first few days after daylight savings, many people are driving to and from work during the morning rush hour in darkness, which can be disorienting and increase the risk of accidents.
Moreover, the shift in daylight hours can also affect the body's circadian rhythms, making it more difficult for drivers and pedestrians to stay alert and focused on the road.
Get a head start on adjusting your sleep schedule to prepare for the clock to so you can this fall!
