La Rumba Buena is a night dedicated to classic Latin sounds inspired by the salsatecas in Cali, Havana, and New York.

No frills, pure vibes, and a non-stop dance floor open to anyone who catches the rhythm. La Rumba Buena just means a great party and ‘Rumber@s’ are people who love to dance. Expect to hear Salsa, Boogaloo, Cumbia, Guaguanco, Son, Rumba, Descargas, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Bomba, and Plena from the resident DJs. With a stack of vinyl collected over a decade from across the Americas, DJs Blancon and Drumspeak play out the sounds from the Latin Diaspora and bring La Rumba Buena to Toronto.

On Saturday, April 18, La Rumba Buena is honoured to present, in her Canadian debut,
SABOR A MI () 🇲🇽/🇫🇷.

Named after a Mexican bolero composed in 1959 by Alvaro Carillo, her name is a tribute to memory, to her grandfather, to her family, and to her culture, who instilled in her a love of rhythm and romance.

Growing up between Mexico and France, SABOR A MI continues reconnecting with her roots through salsa, bolero and tropical music. With every set, she offers everything she is and everything she feels, playing as if each set might be her last (!!!!). We had the pleasure of meeting Sophie (aka SABOR A MI) in Mexico City recently and we KNOW she puts her whole soul into her music. Será una rumba inolvidable (with some unforgettable dances too).

This is all going down at our beloved home, CAFETERIA (THE PEOPLE’S CLUB!).

As always, this event WILL sell out. Tickets now on sale. Get ‘em while they last 🫶

Pure and loving fire 🔥 last Saturday. Good lord! Appreciation to everyone that came through and brought their Aries / Spring equinox energy. And HUGE thanks and love to our very special guest who flew in from Mexico City and absolutely killed his set (he went in!) And a special shout out to .es (who came through for a secret set and rocked with us all night).

And we can confirm that the birthday boy (our own ) had a wonderful (and wholesome!) time.

We’re going to say less because .maker’s photos speak more than enough (so much joy on film).

As always, a big thank you to all the incredible staff/bartenders at we appreciate y’all!

NOTE: next rumba will be Saturday, April 18 and we’ve got a VERY special guest making her Canadian debut. Put it in your calendars, people. See you soon 🫶

Spring is in the air! And that means joy is in the air! It hits 10 degrees in Toronto and people start rocking shorts and Tees (y’all wild). You can already feel the energy in the city. People are ready. And so are we.

Join us Saturday, March 21st, at as we start off the season in the most appropriate way, with a double dose of Aries ♈️ ♈️ behind the decks.

First off, joining us all the way from Mexico City 🇲🇽, by way of Caracas 🇻🇪, the one and only Carlos Mayoral (AKA ). A celebrated music producer, DJ, and jazz pianist, Pocz is a regular at Mexico City’s famed (where we just had the pleasure of playing with him) and is coming off dates at the legendary (Miami) and .hifi (San Diego). On all fronts, his influences and most transcendental experiences come from the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, Detroit, and London. He’ll be bringing a heavy set of salsa and other Latin Rhythms to Rumba, and he may sneak in a surprise or two.

We’ll also be celebrating the (actual) birthday of our very own (on the cusp, but if you know him, you know he’s a full-blooded 🔥 sign).

This one is for the lovers and it is going to be a JAM. Gente apasionada ALL day 🔥🔥🔥

Tickets on sale now, family. They WILL go quickly. See you soon ❤️‍🔥

Look at the energy and the joy in these photos. Not just in the crowd (although definitely in the crowd), but also the DJs. We were having so much fun behind the decks and everyone on the dancefloor could feel it. And that’s why we do this: to bring happiness to others and - full disclosure - ‘cause playing records we love is super fun.

We KNEW our special guests would be truly special and they didn’t disappoint. and have that DJ magic touch (follow them on IG if you don’t already!). They kept the musical love flowing all night and played some tunes that you wouldn’t always hear at Rumba. Expanding a night’s sonic palette while staying true to the night’s energy is one of best things a guest can do - the energy in the room was straight beautiful.

We’re going to let .maker’s amazing photos do the rest of the talking from here on out (tag a friend if you see them!).

A sincere thank you to everyone that came through and celebrated with us. And, again, HUGE 🙏🫶🙏 to our special guests for making it such a fun night ❤️‍🔥

And…We’re keeping the anniversary celebrations rolling all year, family. We’ve got another very special guest coming up (from a little farther afield) for the next Rumba. Saturday, March 21st, we’re kicking off ♈️ season in style. Mark it down! Details to come 🫶

In advance of tonight’s SOLD OUT Rumba Buena, we asked one of our guest DJs to share a little bit about their connection to salsa music and collecting records.

Take a moment to watch! She has quite the history.

We will see everyone later tonight on the dance floor!

This city is overflowing with talent and we need to celebrate that every dang day.

With that, on Saturday, February 28th at we’re proud to announce the Rumba debuts of not one, but two (!!) of the city’s shining lights: Ana Luisa () and NYHTNURSE ()

Ana Luisa (), making her vinyl debut (!!!!), is a DJ, promoter and creative producer from Caracas, Venezuela. As a Toronto scene mainstay since 2020, she has taken local, national and international stages with her selection of latin rhythms. Her tracks have been released on numerous labels and she is one of the minds behind Veneno, one of Toronto’s most iconic parties platforming Latin American electronic music.

NYHTNURSE (she/her) is a DJ and vinyl collector with Afro-Indigenous roots in Panamá. Her growing collection embodies rhythms that have crossed oceans and cultivated sounds of resistance, liberation and love. Her crates come full of Latin and Caribbean gems. Her sets are an invitation to collectively explore new, exciting and nostalgic sounds!

Tickets on sale NOW. We’ve got a feeling (a premonition, even) that Ana Luisa and NYHTNURSE are going to burn it down 🔥🔥🔥 (musically). This is going to be one for the books, people (you know the book is always better than the movie 😉). Tickets will go quick and we are going to turn UP for this one.

Flash fact: the very first Rumba was held in February 2016. So, this is our 10-year anniversary. We’ll be celebrating all year, but come raise a toast with us this month as we celebrate surpassing any and all hopes we had for the party when we started out on a cold Toronto night at Dovercourt and Bloor (shoutout to Yauca’s - gone but not forgotten).

Much love to ALL of you ❤️‍🔥 Let’s dance.

What a way to start the year! Freezing out. Dead of winter. Snowmaggedon just a few hours away, and Rumba was a jam as always.

Scenes of joy and abandon captured by the talented .maker.

We can’t tell you how much we appreciate the love and support (and happiness!) each and every month. No matter the weather.

We love bringing guests and new sounds and styles for you, and it had been way too long since the two of us got to rock a Rumba solo. We had *so* much fun and that always comes through in the music.

Next Rumba is Saturday, February 28th. Mark your calendars 🗓️. We know it’s a little delayed, but it’s for a good reason. We’re taking a trip mid-February to play a BUNCH of one gigs in one of our favourite metropolises 👀 More details to come. And just one tiny hint now: 🌮

01/12/2026

We’re back, family!!! First Rumba of 2026 coming at you Saturday, January 24th.

This year marks our TENTH ANNIVERSARY (double digits!!) and we’re going to be celebrating ALL year.

It’s been far, far too long since we’ve had the chance to play a full night for all of you. There are records we’ve been wanting to play for you for months (literally). So, we’re starting the year with no guests. Just the two of us, back-to-back, unearthing musical gems for you (and trust that we’ve been holding onto some 🔥🔥). We can’t wait.

It’s all going down at our home base (the people’s club) and we wouldn’t have it any other way).

Tickets on sale NOW and they’ll go quick (and it’ll be more at the door).

See you soon. Bring your dancing shoes and come ready to celebrate 🪩

Recap (verbal clap portion): what a wonderful way to end the year. The joyful chaos that is Rumba was in *full* effect (and we wouldn’t have it any other way). made his Rumba debut and showed why he long ago achieved legendary status in Toronto and beyond. put us all on to new records (and kept us dancing!) as only he can. And our dear sister La Colocha () breezed through from the Windy City and laid down a set of Cumbia treats.

Recap (lore portion): December can be TRICKY for parties in Toronto. Tons going on. It’s cold af. It’s midnight-dark at 4 pm. In short: conditions are not conducive to leaving our homes. And still, Rumba was *bumping* and was so full of the loving energy that keeps inspiring us to do this FOR YOU every dang month. We appreciate you and we’ll keep telling you how blessed we feel (cause it’s real). Join us next year as we celebrate our tenth anniversary (special jams ALL year).

Thank you to: .maker for the beautiful photos 📸 for being our door-person extraordinaire (and just one of our straight up fave people - you a real one, Liz!). we’re gonna keep saying it: THE PEOPLE’S CLUB! We appreciate this space now more than ever. Big shoutout to the Theos (x2) and Austin for holding it down for us this month 🙏

See you in 2026, people. Much love ❤️‍🔥

First, to everyone reading this, thank you for such an incredible year. When we started Rumba we never could have envisioned going into our tenth year (!!!) on such a high. La vida te da sorpresas (and Rumba continues to be a beautiful one). This month, to celebrate the season and the end of the year, we are joined by not one, but TWO Toronto salsa legends.

We’re honoured to have Giovanni Torres aka playing his FIRST Rumba ever (long overdue!). Gio was born and raised in Medellin, 🇨🇴, surrounded by salsa music, teaching, and dancing, and he’s been sharing his passion with the world for over 30 years.

In his words, “Djing and teaching is my passion, collecting great Latin music has been my hobby for many years…I play from my heart and feel the music I play. I envision myself dancing, and therefore, I envision others dancing to their fullest.”

Not to be outdone, we have Rumba family and “your favourite dancer’s favourite DJ”, back in the house. If you’ve experienced a Timber set before, you KNOW the love and joy radiating off him while he plays is infectious. And don’t sleep on his new Salsa Fresh Sounds series (every Friday on his IG - spreading that musical love).

Plus, if we can get our act together in time, we might even have some holiday presents for you 🎁. All going down at aka THE PEOPLE’S CLUB. Tickets on sale *now* - they’ll go quick (and it will be more at the door, family).

Happy holidays and love to one and all.
