Having spent 100s of hours studying how therapeutic clowns work, here are a few rules for life (in no particular order):
* Say hi to everyone when you enter a room
* When you meet someone new, make sure they're ok before you start to play with them
* Being ridiculous can go a long way
* When someone takes over and you don't want them to, best to walk away
* Made-up songs almost always break the ice
* All emotions are ok, even the big ones, even the sad ones
* Don't force someone to be happy, just hang with them

One of the best posts I've seen in a long time...
Be authentically you - channel your inner Miss Piggy!!
Thank you Melina Nacos Coaching for this wise and delightful reminder...
Miss Piggy is more than a glamourous diva with a passion for drama—she’s the poster child for being unapologetically yourself.
She doesn’t shrink herself for anyone. She’s bold, brazen, and lives her life with a contagious mix of flair and sass that has inspired generations. And here’s the kicker—she does it all without crossing the line into meanness. She’s sassy, not spiteful. Confident, not conceited.
What makes Miss Piggy so iconic is her fearless authenticity. She doesn’t ask for permission to be fabulous, take up space, or chase her dreams (and Kermit). Instead, she reminds us how freeing it is to fully own who we are. She’s perfectly imperfect, a blend of ambition and vulnerability, and she’s not afraid to show either.
That’s why so many of us connect with her on a deeper level. Miss Piggy shows us that living authentically—whether it comes with a loud “moi” or a fabulous glittery outfit—is the key to not just self-confidence, but self-love. She proves you can shine unapologetically bright and still lift others up.
Be bold. Be sassy. Be YOU—because Miss Piggy wouldn’t have it any other way. 🎀✨

My friends!
I’m SUPER excited to share about my new and FIRST mini-course! Woo hoo! It’s for entrepreneurs and practitioners who are looking to improve their writing skills.
If writing is part of your work, but you’re not totally confident and you want to improve, this is the mini-course for you. It’s called “Write with Confidence & Ease: a course for professionals.”
What’s the scoop?
In the mini-course I share a five-step framework that I developed for myself and my own writing called The IDEAS Framework. The framework will help you to think through different parts of your writing and organize your ideas, so you can connect with your audience authentically.
The IDEAS Framework can be applied to large and small writing projects - anything from writing your professional bio, or your LinkedIn profile, to writing funding applications or a sponsorship package, to writing work emails or email newsletters, to public-facing writing like blogs and website copy.
People who’ve taken the course so far have said how the framework has helped them feel more assured with their writing - where they used to dread writing, they now have an accessible framework to follow.
As a little about me - I’m an award-winning artist-entrepreneur-teacher, and I’ve worked across industries. More here: https://thejuliagray.ca/history-and-stuff/

In this clip I'm speaking about arts and social change - but the work I am talking about here can apply to all kinds of change you want to see in the world. It doesn't have to be about doing this through the arts.
We are moving further into dark times. It feels heavy. Many of us are exhausted.
Imagine the world you want to see and to be in. Build the world you imagine. Through art, or just through the small everyday gestures if that's all you can do at the moment. Find your people, and take care of each other and yourself.

I recorded the video for my upcoming mini course and had to get inventive about where to put my mouse!
I was noticing that when I had my mouse on my desk, my camera would wobble from the movement! Lol. So re-worked it to rest it on a suitcase which is piled on a chair.
Sometimes you do whatcha gotta do, am I right? Oh the glamour...

I had the honour to attend a session at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto this afternoon. I continue to learn about the stories of First Nations, Metis and Inuit people and the effects of colonialism. Especially with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation coming up (a national day of recognition here in Canada), I encourage you to take the time to learn and reflect, and then also do differently.
NCCT has a gift shop, and so to show my support and thanks for the session I bought a few items including these beautiful earrings. If you would like to purchase Orange Shirts, or other Indigenous related items, be sure to buy from an organization where the funds return to Indigenous communities and artists. Know who you are buying from!

Working with a new client today to help her craft her application narrative for a leadership role in the arts and culture sector.
Man, I get super nerdy about taking decades of rich experience that an amazing human has acquired and shaping it into a compelling package. Nothing more satisfying than helping people shine!!
