OCCUPIERS’ LIABILITY: WHAT DOES IT MEAN? ⚖️

Property owners, businesses, landlords, and others who control a property have a legal duty to take reasonable steps to keep visitors safe.

Hazards such as wet floors, uneven walkways, inadequate lighting, unsafe stairs, snow and ice, and construction-related dangers can lead to serious injuries. When a property owner fails to address these risks, they may be held legally responsible for the harm that results.

Occupiers’ liability claims can arise from a wide range of accidents, and understanding your rights early can help protect your interests.

🚨 Toronto’s Most Dangerous Intersections 🚨

Every day, thousands of drivers travel through Toronto’s busiest intersections. Unfortunately, some locations experience significantly higher numbers of collisions than others.

📍 Kingston Rd / Port Union Rd / Sheppard Ave E
📍 McCowan Rd & Lawrence Ave E
📍 Sheppard Ave E & Kennedy Rd
📍 Martin Grove Rd & Dixon Rd

Whether you’re commuting to work or running errands, staying alert, avoiding distractions, and driving defensively can help reduce your risk of being involved in a collision.

⚠️ If you’ve been injured in a motor vehicle accident, understanding your legal rights is important.

Attention students, retirees, stay-at-home parents, and unemployed Ontarians renewing auto insurance after July 1, 2026 ⚠️

Non-earner benefits will no longer be automatically included in standard auto insurance coverage in Ontario.

That means if you’re injured in an accident and unable to continue your normal daily life, you may not qualify for these benefits unless you specifically add the optional coverage at renewal.

Before renewing your policy, make sure you understand what coverage you may be giving up.

Heading out for a bike ride this weekend? Watch this. 🚴

Ontario has special legal protections for cyclists and pedestrians, including something called “reverse onus,” where a driver may need to prove they were not negligent after a collision.

Most people know not to post about their accident online. What they don’t know is that deleting posts can be just as damaging.

In Ontario, courts and insurers can request your post history — and if it looks like you scrubbed your account after getting hurt, it raises serious red flags about your credibility.

Before you delete anything, go private, or post an update about how you’re doing, talk to a lawyer first.

After July 1, 2026, caregiver benefits are no longer automatic in Ontario. If you look after children or other dependants, that’s a gap you can’t afford to ignore.

Most people don’t find out until after an accident. Don’t be one of them.

If you have questions about how the new SABS changes affect your coverage, we’re here to help.
