It is with deep sorrow that we share the sudden passing of a dear friend and colleague, Donald “Donny” McLaren, on February 9th.
Donny was an integral part of the Quantec family from the very beginning. As one of the longest serving employees, during his 38 years with Quantec, he helped shape not only the work we do, but the culture we value.
Anyone who knew Donny will remember his easygoing nature and his ability to make people feel at ease. He had a great sense of humor and loved to play practical jokes and tell tall-tales to lighten the mood or break the boredom of camp life.
Donny was also known for his remarkable ingenuity. Whether working in the shop or in the most challenging field environments, he could fix almost anything. He was resourceful and always just a phone call away when help or advice was needed.
There are hundreds of stories and memories about the adventures he had in the field, the practical jokes he played, and the good times he shared with those who were lucky enough to know him. Donny was, and always will be, a legend!
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

We’re excited to share that Quantec Geoscience will be attending PDAC 2026 in Toronto!
PDAC is always a highlight of the year for our team, a chance to reconnect with industry partners, meet new faces, and talk about the future of discovery through advanced geophysical solutions. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone and discussing how our deep imaging technologies continue to unlock value in complex mineral systems around the world.
📍 Come visit us at Booth #1217
We’re also proud to share that our very own Juan Bascur will be presenting at the KEGS Symposium on February 28th, where he’ll outline:
“Outlining Oxide-Gold Mineralization Using 3D CSAMT at the Fenix-Gold Project, Chile.”
It’s shaping up to be a great week of technical insight and meaningful conversations. See you at PDAC!

Congratulations to Brixton Metals on the Tempest porphyry discovery. Quantec is pleased to see drilling validate the large, high-amplitude TITAN DCIP chargeability anomaly that originally outlined a continuous, sulphide-rich hydrothermal system beneath extensive glacial and landslide cover. The first-ever drillhole at Tempest confirms two mineralized porphyry phases and phyllic alteration exactly within the broad, structurally aligned chargeability domain mapped by TITAN, demonstrating the system’s scale potential and reinforcing TITAN’s sensitivity to disseminated sulphides in complex terrains where geochemical responses can be muted. A strong validation of deep DCIP geophysics vectoring effectively into concealed porphyry centers along the expanding Tempest–Catalyst corridor.
Chairman, CEO, Gary R. Thompson stated, “Intersecting two mineralized porphyry systems with our first-ever drill holes at both Catalyst and Tempest is a remarkable achievement and not something commonly seen in the industry..."
