Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon

Activist Sami Hamdi has been detained at the San Francisco International Airport during a speaking tour, apparently because of his criticism of the US-backed Israeli genocide on Gaza.

SubhanAllah

This elderly uncle was sitting in front of me at the Masjid and I was just amazed, inspired and left at complete awe by the level of effort and difficulty he went through to simply read the Qur'an due to his poor eye sight. He held the Mushaf in one hand, and on the other, he had this special laser device, which identifies black text and enlarges the text as you manoeuvre it across, and placed it close to his eye line. The uncle (h) carried on like this all the way from 'asr to maghrib, sitting in this same position, slowly toiling through the Mushaf.

SubhanAllah, how many of us have been blessed with good eye sight, but weeks, months, or even years will pass by, but our eyes haven't glanced through the Qur'an? How many of us have even been blessed with good eye sight and fluency of recitation, yet we get easily bored and lose interest after reading the Qur'an for 5 minutes, and instead spend hours browsing through our social media.

Needing a spot to pray in old town of Sarajevo, the masjid was locked. It was too late.
khan15 and I just decided to pray in the courtyard even if that meant praying on the cement. No big deal.

As we were praying a random man shows up in my periphery and casts a rug in front of us.

That was a beautiful act and one that I’ve experienced before in many places.

But what I hadn’t experienced before was the *extra* care and consideration of throwing cushions for our knees.

That’s five star hospitality mA.

After the salah we walk over to the restaurant where that man was from and thank him for being so considerate.

He just gruffly takes the cushions back, completely uninterested in conversation and says “alhamdulillah alhamdulillah” while waving us away lol.

Not all kindness comes with a smile, some of it comes with an annoyed grumble, but their hearts are golden all the same.
