“Ohr” translating to the word “light” in Hebrew – is a visual contemplation and meditation on the relationship between body and soul. Our quiet, yet undeniable, connection to the divine force that flows through us. This piece explores the subtle dance between the physical realm and spiritual invisiblia; the unseen internal landscapes and the way spirit —though intangible— intertwines itself, weaving into the fabric of physical form … Reminding us that the light and magic we seek, already lies within.

Created with the intention to replicate an experience and moment of reflection. “Ohr” invites viewers to contemplate the intrinsic force that resides within. Our essence, though often veiled by the mundane is tethered to a higher realm of infinite potential and radiance; available to us at any time, simply awaiting our recognition and embrace.

Drawing deeply from the wisdom of Kabbalah, the concept of “Ohr”, highlights the idea that divine light flows into and enters the world through various vessels—each of us; a conduit for this sacred, infinite and ethereal energy. By utilizing colour, deep contrasts and layered translucence “Ohr” emphasizes the way light and shadow dance and move concurrently. The duality of these elements in the work reflects the balance between our earthly confines and the soul’s boundless potential. A gentle reminder that we are both finite and infinite.

“Ohr” is available and on view as part of ‘SPRING EQUINOX: NEW EVER-EVOLVING’ until March 29th

•• ‘Bardo’

‘Bardo’, is an exploration of the liminal space between life and death; a realm between realms where the soul is neither here nor there, yet suspended in a moment of uncertain transition between lives. Birthed from grief and love dancing in tandem, ‘Bardo’ is a tribute to someone who has passed- immortalized and honoured in the subtleties of every stroke, colour choice and form.
Embodying the fragile and profound place between the tangible world of the living and the mystery of what lies beyond. Playing with translucence, colour, ethereal shapes, and soft contrasts these elements are utilized to mirror the transition of this delicate process of letting go while simultaneously holding on and the profound sense of connection that remains while navigating the void that their presence once filled.

Bardo is an invitation to sit with the silence and contemplate the impermanence of our time here; to remember those we’ve loved in ways that allow their essence to remain, entangled and intertwined with our own. We are both lost and found — humbled by the depth and beauty of a love that transcends time and space. A reminder that love doesn’t end with death — it transforms and transcends.

Currently on view as part of ‘SPRING EQUINOX: NEW EVER-EVOLVING’ North Gallery until March 29th.
