This year’s is all about empathy.
The CMHA National / ACSM National is reminding us that when times are tough, we need to be there for each other. We can do this by practicing empathy. Our world has faced a common problem: we’ve living together through a long and grueling pandemic. The virus came for all of us. While it has left its mark on some more than others, it’s clearer now that we’re as much the same as we are different. Empathy might, in fact, be the silver lining to all of this: whatever our circumstances, it’s clear that we all need to feel seen and heard.

April is . According to the Canadian Social Survey: COVID and well-being, from April to June 2021, one-quarter of Canadians reported experiencing high levels of stress most days, and nearly half of Canadians considered that their stress levels were worse than before the pandemic.

Living amongst a pandemic has had varying levels of impact for Canadians. It is important during this time to ask for help from family, friends, healthcare providers and/or your workplace and utilize resources like Wellness Together (https://www.wellnesstogether.ca/en-CA), a free 24/7 platform giving you access to resources for mental health and substance abuse support.
