Potentate Mining LLC, North America’s largest producer of sapphires, is pleased to announce that Mother Nature has allowed us to commence our mining again for the season at the Rock Creek sapphire mine near Philipsburg Montana. The winter months have been busy and the frozen ground permit us to complete a winter drilling program. This drill rig recovers sausage like rolls of unconsolidated gravels which are carefully logged and analyzed for their contained sapphires. This allows the geologists to plan & select areas for mining in the 2026 summer season. Of course the mining requires heavy equipment so we have recently acquired a new CAT excavator and haul truck.

Montana’s Rock Creek Sapphires promoted by LeVian!

Potentate Mining LLC has had a productive 2025 season mining the unique Rock Creek Sapphires near Montana. Many challenges need to be addressed mine down to 40 feet beneath the surface in order to reach the bedrock concentration of sapphires. This is accomplished with bench mining & back filling with waste rocks and gravels when the area is mined out. Here you can see the water pooled on the deeply weathered bedrock. Due to sapphires high density they tend to collect near the bedrock surfaces. Rough sapphires are available at the AGTA Tucson Gem show and in Thailand Montana Sapphire tender!
