Calling all young professionals ages 18-35! Join ShadowLight and on Monday, July 26 for this special opportunity to spend time with Holocaust survivors by participating in our virtual babka bake.
The event, facilitated by local babka business , will be a chance to spend time with survivors and make babka together! Pre-made dough will be provided for local pick-up and we will go through making the spread and preparing the babka before baking. Hope to see you there!

Due to uncooperative weather, our outdoor event "Pots in the Pits" was rained out last Thursday evening... but you're in luck! Click the link below to grab your ticket to plant some succulents and eat some pizza in Christie Pits. IN PERSON! ⁠

The new date is this Thursday evening, and so far, the weather is looking good 🤞⁠

Even better... now that we are in Stage 3, we will be able to shift to a covered or indoor venue if need be. ⁠

We have missed seeing you in person for over a year and a half! We can't wait until Thursday night! See you there! DM us with any questions! ⁠

Alisha Kaplan is a poet who splits her time between downtown Toronto and Bela Farm in Hillsburgh, Ontario. In the city, she facilitates creative writing workshops with the Toronto Writers Collective, studies in Columbia University’s Narrative Medicine Program, and teaches people in healthcare how poetry can help to improve quality of care. ⁠

On the farm, Alisha grows garlic and flowers, harvests honey and wild plant medicine, and hosts barn dances. Her debut collection of poetry, Qorbanot: Offerings, a collaboration with artist Tobi Kahn, has just been published by the State University of New York Press. ⁠

Lisa Shalom is a yoga teacher, spoken word poet, artist, traveler, writer, free spirit... ⁠

At the age of 20, Lisa left home in Montreal, Canada to join the Ocean Warrior, a ship dedicated to the preservation of marine wildlife through the enforcement of international marine laws.⁠

In 2004, Lisa moved to New York City where she re-kindled her love of the arts, (photography, acting and music) and became actively involved with well- known artist collective, the Galaxy Girls. ⁠

In 2005, Lisa returned to life at sea, and was named Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's crew-member of the year after a campaign and court dealings regarding the brutal Canadian seal hunt.⁠

In the 15+ years since, Lisa has been based in Montreal and Israel where she has focused on her practice in the health and wellness world and practicing the art of spoken word poetry... But we can't tell you any more here. You have to join us tomorrow night at 6PM to learn more about Lisa!! ⁠

J-ROB (AKA Half White Full Black) is a Black Ashkenazi Jewish multidisciplinary artist and activist from Montreal with roots from St. Vincent & Germany. His two primary focuses are music and poetry, he aims to amplify and unite the voices of the marginalized to dismantle white supremacy and the systems that uphold it. Musically, he brings a mix of political grunge rap and personal psych-pop, elevating each form through lyrical storytelling. He speaks from his soul, expressing an intimate experience that rings true for too many who struggle under systems of class, race and other identity-based oppression.⁠
