Sign the Petition 09/11/2020

Please take a moment to review and sign this petition. I know the injured dog, and its owners. The owners are animal lovers and rational people. It's why they don't want the dog in question to be destroyed, simply moved to an environment where it is not a danger to the local community and it's behavioural issues can be addressed.

Dr. Becker: 10 Reasons Not to Use a Retractable Leash 06/20/2014

Let me add my own personal story to this... on several occasions while riding my bike on a local shared trail I've slowed down and pulled to the edge of the trail to avoid the humans I see. Unfortunately, at dusk or later, I've been unable to see the leash line nor the dog attached to it far off the trail at the end if it's length. The result has been leashes ripped from hands, pets yanked out of the bushes, and me taking an unscheduled flying lesson.

The short version of this story and the 10 reasons is that these leashes allow pets to be too far from their owners to be under control. Often with dangerous results.

Dr. Becker: 10 Reasons Not to Use a Retractable Leash Retractable leashes allow dogs more freedom to sniff and poke around on walks, but there are many downsides to this type of leash.
