On Saturday, September 26th, 2026 we'll be hosting a Community Cleanup at Station Beach in Kincardine, in collaboration with the Municipality of Kincardine and with support from Bruce Power.

In support of World Cleanup Day on September 20th, come take part in a demonstration of one of our plastic capture devices, the PixieDrone, a remote-controlled, water-based drone. We will also be hosting a beach cleanup and sorting and characterizing the debris collected.

By analyzing what we gather, we can identify the types of plastic and other items most commonly found in Lake Huron and the surrounding waterways, providing valuable insights into potential sources and pathways.

Last Thursday, we hosted a waste sorting event in Toronto for employees at Circular Materials as part of our Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup initiative! Throughout the day, we sorted and characterized waste collected by our Seabins in Toronto and Barrie, while learning about the challenges of plastic pollution in our waterways.

In total, we counted 664 pieces of plastic and other debris. The top three items collected were: small foam pieces (315), small hard fragments (132), and cigarette butts (67). This data will feed into a broader dataset from across our binational network in the Great Lakes region, helping us better understand plastic pollution in our waterways and informing practical, targeted solutions for prevention.

Most school buses in Canada run on diesel, which contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and can expose students, parents, and communities to harmful air pollution. As children head back to school today, it’s time to consider a cleaner alternative.

Electric school buses are gaining momentum, but is Canada’s workforce ready to operate and maintain them? In a new opinion piece for Canada’s National Observer, our Director of Transportation, Marc Saleh, explores how we can successfully prepare our workforce to better support the transition to electric school buses across the country and help protect future generations.

Electric school buses can reduce emissions and improve air quality while offering significant operational cost savings compared with diesel.

But as electric school buses move from pilot projects to larger-scale deployments across Canada, realizing those savings will depend on getting the charging strategy right.

Our new Calgary case study shows how smarter charging can lower electricity costs, reduce infrastructure needs, and make electrification even more cost-effective as fleets scale.

Through our CHARGED Program, we’ve deployed more than 1010 EV charging stations across Canada, expanding the country’s EV charging network and making charging infrastructure more accessible in communities.

In the Township of Bonnechere Valley, Ontario, charging stations have made a tangible impact on the community by providing residents and visitors with an alternative to gasoline-powered vehicles where public transportation is unavailable.
