Word of the Month: Zygomatic Arch 😃
From the Greek zygon (ζυγόν), meaning “yoke” or “bridge,” the zygomatic arch is a key part of your cheekbone. This bony bridge connects the temporal and zygomatic bones, giving structure to your face and supporting jaw movement. 🌉
In cranial osteopathy, we assess the zygomatic arch when treating issues like TMJ dysfunction, sinus problems, and tension headaches. Subtle imbalances here can affect the entire cranial system!
Call us if you are experiencing similar issues. We’re all about building bridges to better health.

🧠 Anatomy Trivia: The Diaphragm
The diaphragm is working behind the scenes every time you take a breath. This dome-shaped muscle sits just below your lungs and contracts to flatten, giving your lungs more room to expand. It's like a personal bouncer for your lungs, making sure they have enough space to party! 🎉
Not only does it help with breathing, but it also plays a key role in sneezing, laughing, and even vomiting (yep, it’s THAT versatile). So, next time you take a deep breath, give a little thanks to your diaphragm—it’s doing a lot more than you might think! 😄

💪 Nutrition for strong bones 🦴
Your bones aren’t just the body’s scaffolding—they’re also secret storage units for vital minerals like calcium and phosphorus! To keep them strong and healthy, focus on a diet rich in:
🍳 Calcium – Found in dairy, leafy greens, and fortified foods, calcium supports bone density.
☀️ Vitamin D – Helps your body absorb calcium. Get it from sunlight, oily fish, or fortified foods.
🥜 Magnesium – Essential for bone formation, magnesium is abundant in nuts, seeds, and whole grains.
🍊 Vitamin C – Found in fruits and vegetables, it supports collagen production, a key component of bone structure.
Healthy bones aren’t just about what you eat but also how you move—staying active, particularly weight bearing activities - complements good nutrition.
If aches and pains are stopping you getting that movement into your days call us and make an appointment. We’re here to help!
