As you probably know I'm a big supporter of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation and the work they do supporting women's shelters and domestic violence prevention programs across Canada.

But during our recent Ecuador Challenge for Shelter, I had the privilege to sit in on a meeting with representatives of the "Fundación Casa de Refugio Matilde in favor of women survivors of gender violence and their children" in Quito. With the support of our group of trekkers, the foundation was able to grant funds to this essential organization as well as donating a large number of underwear and socks.

We just received a cheerful update from them that I wanted to take the opportunity to share: While the political situation remains fraught, all is well at the shelter and they have been able to continue with their work. They were also very happy that the Ecuadorian Ministry of Women signed an agreement for another year of operational funding.

- Underwear and socks purchased with the additional cash donated in Quito
Not pictured are: new office printer, desktop computer for the finance/accounting team, 20 blankets for shelter beds, 20 large towels, door painting and repairs within the shelter.

Last week I spent a few days in beautiful Penticton, BC attending the Royal LePage Canada Headstart Conference.
