Read on for more on WHY we do what we do.
Why do we need engineering outreach? There's still work to be done to support students & educators connect to a bright future! 70% of Canada’s top jobs require a STEM education. Approximately half of university, college and apprenticeship programs are closed to students who do not have grade 12 math and/or science. The good news is ...

[[CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS]]
As the EIR program continues on its growth trajectory to reach more students across Ontario we need your help!
We’re looking for regional representation across Ontario.
It's a great opportunity to get involved with the EIR program in a NEW way.
These “Regional Chairs/Co-Chairs” would be helping to connect EIRs in Ontario to facilitate:
..Sharing of best practices in the classroom (virtual or in-school)..Access to virtual resources such as teaching aids..Providing a regular communication with fellow EIRs across the province..Assistance in matching of available EIRs and Schools (local knowledge helps in matching; with the virtual environment, this is no longer a requirement, but after COVID, it could become an advantage again)
We know that when we have enhanced regional support in place for the EIR program, the experience for the volunteer, teacher and students is even better!
EIR.ca to apply today!
Question for the EIRs....have you talked to your class about what it means to be a self regulated profession? I'm sure kids have questions about what engineers do, and how you become an engineer. Have you considered introducing them to the idea of self regulation and what that means to engineers?
This month we've invited our friend, Marilyn Spink to join us for a Lunch and Learn to chat about the engineering profession & self regulation.
NOTE: This conversation is not specifically focused on how to talk to KIDS about engineering.....but it might be a great way to start thinking about it yourself :)
