Weather forecasts can change, but speeding doesn’t make the roads any safer. Slow down, leave yourself plenty of time, and get there safely.

Our Traffic Enforcement Unit continues to target speeding and unsafe driving behaviours throughout our community. Residents along McMillan Road have raised ongoing concerns about vehicle speeds in the area, prompting increased enforcement efforts.
Today, Traffic officers conducting speed enforcement on McMillan Road observed a pickup truck travelling at 101 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. The 58-year-old driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speeding, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. As a result, he had to arrange alternative transportation from the traffic stop.
AbbyPD has zero tolerance for excessive speeding. This dangerous behaviour puts all road users at risk. So far this year, AbbyPD officers have impounded 262 vehicles for excessive speeding.

Most people are aware of the dangers of drinking and driving but don't realize that drowsy driving can be just as dangerous. Nationally, drowsy driving causes an estimated 100,000 crashes each year, resulting in more than 71,000 injuries. Sleepiness slows reaction time, decreases awareness, impairs judgement, and increases the risk of crashing. As a person gets more tired, they begin to miss things they would normally respond to, resulting in careless and even dangerous errors, particularly when driving.
