ஜனவரி 16, வெள்ளிக்கிழமை, கனடா பிரதமர் மார்க் கார்னி மற்றும் சீன அதிபர் ஷி ஜின்பிங் ஆகியோர் சந்தித்து வர்த்தகம், சுற்றுலா உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு விடயங்கள் குறித்து கலந்துரையாடினர். இந்த பேச்சுவார்த்தை, கனடா–சீனா இடையிலான புதிய மூலோபாய கூட்டாண்மையின் கீழ் ஒரு “வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்புமிக்க உடன்படிக்கை” என பிரதமர் கார்னி தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
மேலும், கனடியர்கள் சீனாவுக்கு பயணம் செய்ய விசா தேவையற்ற முறையை சீனா விரைவில் அறிமுகப்படுத்தவுள்ளதாக அவர் உறுதிப்படுத்தினார். “இன்றைய சந்திப்பில், கனடியர்கள் சீனாவுக்கு செல்ல விசா இன்றி அனுமதி வழங்கப்படும் என்பதை அதிபர் ஷி உறுதி செய்துள்ளார் என்பதில் நான் மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சி அடைகிறேன்,” என மார்க் கார்னி கூறினார்.

Prime Minister Mark Carney met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday, January 16, where the two leaders discussed a range of issues including trade and tourism. The talks resulted in what Carney described as a “landmark deal” under a new strategic partnership between Canada and China.
The Prime Minister also confirmed that China will soon grant visa-free access to Canadian travellers. “I’m very pleased to share that President Xi, in our meeting today, committed to ensuring visa-free travel for Canadians visiting China,” Carney said.
